Going in Ramadan? Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February. It is the busiest time of year in Makkah, so install your eSIM before you fly and keep screenshots of your Nusuk permits.

What you will use data for

Nusuk permits

Book Umrah and Rawdah slots in the Nusuk app and show the QR code at the gate. Save a screenshot too, in case the network is busy.

Getting around

Maps between your hotel and the Haram, ride-hailing apps such as Careem and Uber, and train tickets between Makkah, Jeddah and Madinah.

Staying in touch

WhatsApp voice and video calls home, sharing your location with your group, and messages from your travel agent.

How it works

1Check your phone

Your phone needs to support eSIM and not be locked to a network. Check in 30 seconds.

2Install at home

Buy a plan, get the QR code by email, and scan it on Wi-Fi before you fly. The plan starts when you land.

3Switch on in Saudi Arabia

Set mobile data to the eSIM and turn on data roaming for it. Turn off data roaming on your home line.

Umrah travel agent or group organiser?

We set up a group code for your pilgrims, so they buy before they fly and land with data already working. Every order placed with your code is tracked, so you can see how many of your group are covered.

Questions

Does the eSIM work in Makkah and Madinah?
Yes. It connects to the STC network, which covers both cities. Around the Haram at the busiest prayer times every network slows down, so keep a screenshot of your Nusuk permit.
Do I get a Saudi phone number?
No. This is a data-only eSIM. You can call over WhatsApp, and you can keep your home SIM switched on to receive texts such as Nusuk and bank codes.
Can I receive the Nusuk verification code?
Nusuk sends its code by SMS to the number on your account, and international numbers are accepted. Keep your home SIM switched on to receive it. If your network blocks international texts, ask it to allow them before you travel.
When does the plan start?
When your phone first connects to a network in Saudi Arabia, not when you install it. Install at home on Wi-Fi before you fly.
Does my phone support eSIM?
iPhone XR/XS and newer, Google Pixel 4 and newer, and most recent Samsung flagships support eSIM. Your phone must not be locked to a network. Use our phone check if you are unsure.
Can I get a refund?
If the eSIM has not been installed or activated, contact us within 7 days of delivery and we will review a refund. Once it is installed or connected, it cannot be refunded.
